Doctrine and Covenants: Revelations for Our Day
Modern scripture containing the word of God for the Latter-day Saints
Key Scripture
Doctrine and Covenants 1:38
The Doctrine and Covenants is a collection of divine revelations and inspired declarations given through the Prophet Joseph Smith and his successors for the establishment and regulation of the kingdom of God on earth in the latter days.
A Unique Volume of Scripture
Unlike the Bible and the Book of Mormon, which are records of God's dealings with ancient peoples, the Doctrine and Covenants is addressed directly to us — to the people of our day. It contains specific instructions, doctrines, and revelations given for the establishment of the restored Church.
Key Sections
Section 76 contains the vision of the three degrees of glory. Section 89 contains the Word of Wisdom. Section 121 contains Joseph Smith's prayer from Liberty Jail. Section 138 contains President Joseph F. Smith's vision of the redemption of the dead.
Ongoing Revelation
The Doctrine and Covenants remains open — new revelations can be added as God reveals His will through living prophets.
